The initial “underpainting ” looked flowery and light as my friend Lynda was visiting and we were making giggly plans to get onto the magic bus to join Cindy in her anti – war protest .We imagined a crowd of angry menopausal women pouring out their power in the heat of Texas against this mighty wall of war and greed.

As the painting evolved the pain and loss and the reality of war became more important, the suffering that stings the heart.
